Ich konnte nicht der sein, der ich bin. Ich versuchte, mir das Leben zu nehmen. Der Grund, warum ich mich so depressiv f\u00fchlte und an diesem Punkt angekommen war, war der, dass ich ziemlich mit meiner Sexualit\u00e4t zu k\u00e4mpfen hatte und die Tatsache akzeptieren musste, dass ich schwul bin.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p><strong>Teil einer stolzen und gl\u00fccklichen Community<\/strong><br \/>\nWeiter erkl\u00e4rt Humphries: \u00abIch habe das an mir gehasst. Ich habe mich vor mir selbst geekelt. Ich dachte, ich k\u00f6nnte unm\u00f6glich diese Person in unserer Branche sein, also in der Basketball-Welt. Erst als ich Teil einer Community wurde, die voller Stolz, Spass und Lebensfreude ist, erlebte ich einen grossen Weckruf.\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u00abAber dann kam das grosse Fragezeichen: Wie kann ich ein Basketballspieler sein, und wie kann ich Teil eines neuen Teams werden, nachdem ich endlich mit mir selbst ins Reine gekommen war und nicht mehr verstecken wollte, wer ich bin? Ich entscheid damals, dass ich mich in dem Moment, wo ich zu einem neuen Team dazustossen w\u00fcrde, \u00f6ffentlich outen w\u00fcrde. Ich wollte sicher sein, dass die Leute wissen, dass man so leben kann.
